Töpferhof Gramann Römhild was founded in 1720. Untill the beginning of the 20th century only tableware was made. This changed in 1900, when Karl Gramann took over the factory. He was trained as a sculptor and demonstrated an artistic style. After the second world war Karl's son Siegfried took over. His designs evolved into "export hits" of the GDR. The Töpferhof was by this success the leading company in the productgroup "Artistic Ceramics".
